They want to convince the entire Hong Kong and even the Mainland, that the ‘Hong Kong way’ is the only correct way. And of course, there is plenty of funding available to support their insane claims. The funding comes from the fellow-collapsing societies – those in the West.
If you believe that the world should be run according to human logic rather than the logic of imperialist brigandage; if you believe that people should be allowed to choose their social systems and governments for themselves; if you believe that a country’s people should be able to benefit from the wealth of their own resources, you should support China against all imperialist-backed attempts at regime change.
Good investigative journalism doesn’t only reveal hidden mechanisms of our time; it also exposes those who refuse to confront the mechanisms.
Perhaps all this company that Cotler has kept means nothing, but you’d think, at a minimum, the political, corporate and media establishment that promote his ‘human rights’ credentials might be made anxious by the possibilities it suggests.
