Following on from my Israel integrated into CENTCOM report yesterday, Biden has bombed Syria under the pretext of targeting Iranian militia, Saraya Awliya al-Dam, that took responsibility for the 15th February attack on the US occupation military base in Iraq, killing one contractor and injuring several other personnel.
Iran, however, has denied any links to the militia.
The attacks took place near the Syrian border with Iraq. The usual “self-defence” trope has been wheeled out, “protecting US troops in Iraq”, troops that Iraq has asked to leave.
“Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the U.S. action was a “proportionate military response” taken together with diplomatic measures, including consultation with coalition partners.
No consultation with Syria, the sovereign nation they just bombed.
“The operation sends an unambiguous message: President Biden will act to protect American and coalition personnel,” Kirby said. “At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to deescalate the overall situation in eastern Syria and Iraq.”
Bombing now “de-escalates”, apparently.
“Kirby said the U.S. airstrikes “destroyed multiple facilities at a border control point used by a number of Iranian- backed militant groups,” including Kataib Hezbollah and Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada. The U.S. has blamed Kataib Hezbollah for numerous attacks targeting U.S. personnel and interests in Iraq in the past.”
I wonder how much involvement Israel had in the designation of this target under the “retaliation” umbrella.
Mary Ellen O’Connell, a professor at Notre Dame Law School, criticized the U.S. attack as a violation of international law.
“The United Nations Charter makes absolutely clear that the use of military force on the territory of a foreign sovereign state is lawful only in response to an armed attack on the defending state for which the target state is responsible,” she said. “None of those elements is met in the Syria strike.”

“The very same Biden and the Democrats denounced the bombing of Syria when Trump was doing it, but now it’s good because it’s them who ordered it. Yet another perfect illustration of the Who/Whom selective morality in action.
Another thing worth noticing is the degree to which the media carry water for the Washington regime. About an hour before the Pentagon issued an official statement, the word was leaked to Reuters and then major US media. They ALL, without exception, regurgitated the talking points and made sure to add official “explanations,” so as to guide their audiences not what they should think — nobody thinks in America anymore — but how they should feel.
Not a single outlet pointed out that the US has no business being in Syria. It’s just assumed that anything the (officially approved) Washington regime does is legal and legitimate. International law? Don’t be silly, it’s been about as quaint for years as domestic law in Our Democracy is about to become.
The trick is that the Empire maintains itself by persuading people to believe in its legitimacy. Hence the whole furor about “undermining faith” in NATO. This is why propaganda, perception management and manufacturing consent are the most important things for the Empire today. Bombs are just part of the show.”

I think the only strategy that might (and I emphasize ‘might’) stop these Zionist (U.S. & Israeli) attacks is the one used in Iraq for a time in which committed U.S. & other western activists placed themselves in the targets and made it clear they would not leave regardless of the risk so the perpetrators and their populations would know that their attacks were killing their own citizens & children. Short of another country (Russia) threatening military retaliation (which won’t happen) I cannot imagine what else might stay these psychopaths hands.
